Sean Weatherspoon's SPOONful of Hope Foundation has four signature programs:

SPOON Feed a Family
This program will provide low-income families with an all-expense paid trip to a fun and exciting venue in Atlanta for the day. Each year, Sean and the Foundation will host the selected families for a day of fun and provide them with much needed food for Thanksgiving.

Hope in a Backpack
This back to school program will provide nearly 300 inner-city, low-income middle school students with the basic items needed to begin the school year. Each child will receive a backpack filled with school supplies and shop for much needed back to school clothing and shoes.

Operation Second Half
This program will provide inner-city Middle school students with the basic items needed to begin the second half of the school year. Each family will be given a store gift card that will enable them to shop the store for needed items like school supplies, winter clothes and shoes.

Tackling The Text
Tackling The Text is a literacy engagement program designed to bring families, schools, and communities together to support children's literacy development. Tackling The Text works to:

  • Help families foster the skills, attitudes, and behaviors that support children's literacy development.
  • Help schools engage families through fun, literacy-based events.
  • Better prepare children for reading and learning.
  • Support schools with their family engagement goals.
Through the collective efforts of the community sponsors and the SPOONful of Hope Foundation we will provide more than 30,000 books to more than 10,000 at-risk Title l elementary school children; giving them the ability to connect with books they want to read.
