November 6, 2013
ATLANTA, GA (Nov. 6, 2013) – Atlanta Falcons’ Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon and 20 of his teammates were busy serving dinner to 150 guests at Ocean Prime on Monday night at Weatherspoon’s First Annual Celebrity Waiter Night.
Guests mingled with Spoon and teammates Matt Ryan, Drew Davis, Thomas DeCoud, Jacquizz Rodgers, Steven Jackson, Jason Snelling, Joplu Bartu, Paul Worrilow, Thomas Howard, Stephen Nicholas, Justin Blalock, Sam Baker, Harry Douglas, , Corey Peters, Tony Gonzalez, Matt Bosher, Lamar Holmes, Jonathon Massaquoi, Chase Coffman and Travian Roberston as they rallied behind Spoon to support his Spoonful of Hope Foundation.
Falcons got behind the bar, topped off water glasses, brought out salad plates and cracked the pepper, laughing all the way. Wes Durham, Voice of the Falcons, came out to MC the evening.
“We have a great group of guys,” said Weatherspoon. “I asked if they could come out to help raise money for kids and they came out in full force. It really is something special.”
Through the ticket sales, donations and a live and silent auction, Spoon’s First Annual Celebrity Waiter Night raised $84,000 for the foundation.
Some of the money will be used at Spoon’s upcoming program SPOONfeed a Family. On November 25th Sean and his girlfriend, Christine Weston, will invite 15 low-income Atlanta families to a fun day at the aquarium and send them home with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner.
